Annotation
For project seven we used a website called Puzzle Maker at DiscoverySchool.com and also Microsoft Word and Paint. First, we went to the website and created a word puzzle that could be used for elementary students. I choose the topic on the Solar System. You can choose any topic from this website which is beneficial because as a future teacher I could create puzzles according to what content areas we are studying. Once I created a puzzle on the webpage I copied and pasted the puzzle on Microsoft Word and then used paint to put a screen shot of my puzzle (shown below). The screen shot of my puzzle is linked to my puzzle on Microsoft Word. The website also gives a variety of activities to make puzzles, mazes and word searches. Using this technology tool is excellent to integrate into an elementary curriculum because it is simple for teachers to use and very useful to students because you can incorporate vocabulary words and have the students become more familiar with the words by doing activities such as this.
This project could have been done within groups but we decided to do it individually. I wanted to do this project individually because I got the chance to personalize my puzzle and made my own choices, and often it takes more time doing a project with a group than individually. This resource is very useful and I will be using this in my future as a teacher.
