Reflection #1 on article from MSNBC.com

“Schools, teachers behind in technology use”

I agree with one of the students in the article who said that “teachers should be required to take technology courses” especially those who are far behind in their knowledge and experience with computers.  The world today is run by technology so it’s vital that teachers who are educating the future of our world be kept up to date with it and its changes, and allows the children as much experience as they can get because it sure isn’t going away.  I don’t believe every homework assignment should be completed on a computer though because not every family or child has a computer at home especially those from poor areas.  But, I do believe some assignments in class can be done using computers at school.  This allows all the children to practice and become familiar with using the computer even for those who do not have them at home.

I also think computers are a great way for teachers to communicate with parents that have access to a computer because messages can get back and forth quicker and it is just an easier process with no hassles like did the letter ever get home to the parents.  I also think computers are excellent in organizing and storing information which can be very important for teachers. Teachers have so much information they need to keep about their students that it would be easier to access all the information and keep it organized if they put it all on a computer. There are many positive attributes in using computers that it would extremely beneficial for the teachers and the students if the teachers were required to take technology classes throughout the year so they could use and teach new information about technology to their students.
