Glossary of Terms



Bare (adj):
having no leaves.


Bloom (v):
to grow.



Cloudy (adj): when the sky is full of or covered with clouds.



Feathery (adj):
covered with feathers.



Frosty (adj):
something that has ice crystals that clump together on it.



Hearth (n): the floor of a fireplace.



Icicles (n):
a spear of ice that is formed when falling water freezes.



Island (n): a land mass which is surrounded by water.



Journey (n):
the act of traveling from one place to another.



Puzzle (v): to confuse.



Queer (adj.):
strange.



Shore (n): the land along the edge of an ocean, sea, lake, or body of water.



Skiing(v):
a sport where you go down a hill using skiis.



Sledding (v):
the sport of riding a sled down a hill of snow.



Sleet (n):
a mix of rain and snow.



Slush (n):
snow that is has started to melt.



Snow (n):
precipitation that falls in the form of ice crystals.



Snowboarding (v):
riding down a hill of snow using a board where both feet are strapped into.



Snowman (n):
a figure of a person made out of snow that has been packed together.



Snowshoeing (v)
: traveling on snowshoes.  Snowshoes allow you to walk on deep snow. They are light-weight and look like racquets.

 
Woolen (adj): 
made of wool.



Wild (adj.):
not inhabited or farmed.
