New
Zealand was thought to be a part of the supercontinent
Gondwana. Around 80 million years ago, it separated, and over
time has become what is known as modern day New Zealand. |
|
The
country's history is rich and colorful, beginning with the Polynesians
who were thought to have discovered the country. At the same
time, Maori were settling in other other parts of New
Zealand. |
|
Throughout
the years, a host of European explorers arrived to colonize the place,
some encounters were friendly and others were hostile. Today New
Zealand is an independent nation within the British Commonwealth. |
