Project # 4

This project was optional and for extra-credit.  However, it was extremely interesting and fun.  It consisted of utlizing Microsoft Office to create a wordart acrostic and an educational handout.  Both projects are great ideas to use in an elementary classroom because they are asthetically pleasing.  It is essential to use visual aids in the classroom because it facilitates the learning of children who learn visually.  It also makes education fun and enjoyable.  I learned many tricks about microsoft office during the creation of this project, and am excited to exercise what I have learned into my own classroom.

I used Microsoft Office to create my wordart acrostic.  First, I inserted my name using the wordart feature, which enabled me to make my name vertical.  Then, I changed the color and shadow of my name using the fill feature.  After I finished creating my name I looked up adjectives that could be used to describe myself.  I inserted each adjective with respect to the correct letter it should be matched with.  After my adjectives were correctly lined up with the letters of my name I changed the color and shadow of the words.  Finally, I inserted a border to my creation.

I used Microsoft Office to create my educational handout as well.  First, I decided to create a worksheet for the subject of math.  Then, I decided to feature the holiday of Halloween, which many children enjoy.  I chose to use pumpkins that represent basic addition and subtraction  problems.  By using pictures I was able to represent simple addition and subtraction problems, which makes it a lot more fun for children to solve.  Also, I inserted a watermark and border with a picture of candy corns to add to the theme of Halloween.
