After taking this course I have
realized that there are several resources that I never knew how to use on the computer.
Previously, I thought that I had a pretty good understanding of how to use the
computer, but I realized that there was so much more that I could be doing. I
think that the quote by Claude Bernard "it is what we think we know already that often prevents us from learning,"
illustrates my previous ideas well. It was the things that I had
already thought that I knew that kept me from exploring and improving
on my computer skills. I thought that the only resources that I could
use when working on the computer had to be the ones that came installed
on my computer, but this course showed me that I was wrong. I was able
to discover that there are several adequate free resources online that
could prove to be an asset to my work. It is the assumption that I knew
all that I really needed to know that hindered improvements on my
technological skills and my learning
Bruce Barton stated that “When
you are through changing, you are through.” This
quote helps to show what I believe to be the most important thing that I
learned through this course. If you limit yourself that is when you can go no
further. It is important to realize that as resources and technology are
constantly changing it is important that I remember to change with it as best
as I can. As soon as a person begins thinking that they know enough about
something, they have limited themselves to future change, and therefore limited
themselves as a person.
It learned that it is important to
remember that “Change
always comes bearing gifts” (Price Pritchett).
I believe that this course was able to show me that I could change and learn
new things, and that it was easy to make the adaptations to the changes. I
learned several useful skills and more importantly I learned that I can teach
myself how to use new resources and how to get through the difficult parts
without giving up, because the final outcome is worth all the challenges along
the way. The gifts that are received through change may be represented in many
different ways. The “gift” of change may be seen through self improvement or
things learned but most importantly, for me, I believe that the best gift will
be the ability I will have for my future learning and teaching. I believe that
I will be able to incorporate the things I learned in this course in my future
classroom. I also believe that I will be able to use the confidence I developed
in my technological abilities to develop further improvements in new technology
that I can use for both me personally and for my classroom.
This class proved to be an important
part in my learning journey. I think that it is a great asset to the
educational department. It is a necessary tool for all teachers and all prospective
teachers. I am grateful for all that I was able to explore and learn throughout
this class.
