The 2008 Election is a fascinating experience for Americans.  The dominating political parties in the United States are the Republican Party and the Democratic Party.  Each of these parties has chosen a candidate to run for President in 2008.  Election day is set for November 4, 2008.  The Republican candidate is Senator John McCain (R-Arizona). Students are asked to research candidate McCain and describe the platform for his campaign (issues and values). The Democratic candidate is Senator Barack Obama (D-Illinios).  Students are asked to research candidate Obama and describe the platform for his campaign (issues and values).           Leading Question: In American elections, the voters are usually choosing between Democrats and Republicans. How are Democrats and Republicans different?  In the 2008 Presidential election why will some people vote for John McCain and other people vote for Barack Obama?
