Reflection

#5 Professionalism

5.1 Professional growth, reflection, and evaluation—Candidates are aware of
and reflect on their practice in light of research on teaching, professional ethics,
and resources available for professional learning; they continually evaluate the
effects of their professional decisions and actions on students, families and other
professionals in the learning community and actively seek out opportunities to
grow professionally.

The artifact that I chose to show that I have met the above NCEI standard is my Hawk project reflection. The reflection I wrote shows that I am aware of and have the ability to reflect on my teaching. In this reflection I evaluate how effectively my lesson plan and my WebQuest were. Through this reflection I am evaluating the effects of my professional decisions and actions on students, and I show in the reflection how I could grow professionally.

I feel that this reflects upon my impact on students. The Hawk reflection gives a detailed description of the learning activities that I created for my sixth grader at McGraw Elementary School. This artifact shows that I am conscientious of my professional decisions and how they impacted the sixth grader I was working with.
