"The object of education is to prepate the young to educate themselves throughout their lives."-Robert Maynard Hutchins

For this project, I made a calendar and newsletter with Microsoft Publisher.  I opened Microsoft Publisher 2003 under Microsoft Office.  Then I clicked on "publications for print" on the left, and then chose "calendar" for my calendar, and "newletter" for my newsletter.
For the calendar, I chose the "borders calendar", because I liked the way it looked.  I made sure it was in landscape orientation, monthly and no schedule of events on the left side.  Then I simply started typing in information.  I based it on the elementary school I used to go to, George W. Johnson.  I changed the border to match the school colors, orange and black.  I found a picture of a tiger, the school mascot, from clip art.
For my newletter, I chose "banded newsletter" because it seemed like a good look for a fall newletter, which I decided to do.  Again, I based it on my former elementary school.  I made up articles I thought it would contain, and made up names and quotes to use as well.  I found pictures off the Internet that related to the subject and pasted them on.
The hardest part of the project was making the thumbnails below.  I took a "print screen" with that button on the upper right side of my keyboard.  Then I pasted this into Paint program.  Then I cropped it so it looked nice, and saved this in Paint.  Finally, I copied and pasted into Composer, and resized the image.  I saved this as a .jpeg on my flashdrive.  Then I made the images linked to the Microsoft Publisher product.
