Project Eight
This
course taught me so much. I can't even being to explain. This will
benefit me so much in my classroom and with other things that I do.
This has been an awesome experience. I have grown so much
throughout this course. When I first started out, I didn't know very
much about computers, I had taken a few classes in high school but
nothing really crazy. I have to say learning to use Nvu and even Google
felt like such a huge accomplishment for me. It was so cool to learn
all the different options there are for successful teaching and
demonstrating your information. After meeting with Shufang, I became so
much more comfortable with using Nvu, and it became one of my favorite
things to do throughout the course. I loved being able to pick
backgrounds and put my own pictures in to express myself. One of the
most helpful things I learned was "print screen" which id always
wondered how people did it, but I could never figure it out. So that
was neat to finally figure out how simple it is to actually do. I love
the photo story as well. I completely plan on using that in my own
classroom. I had a great time putting together the one about my family,
which I will show them when I go home for christmas break. The biggest
frustration I had was getting rid of the slash marks in Nvu and getting
all my links to work. That was upsetting me because I really thought I
was doing things right. But then after my meeting I realized how easy
it was to fix these errors, which was nice. I also am not sure how I
feel about working in groups. I am very independent, and I like to do
things on my own, so for me working in groups is not always effective.
With my students, I feel there is no real way to make sure not
one student does most of the work. I will use groups in the class
setting for assignments, but I won't make it a requirement. I want to
try to incorperate technology into my classroom as much as possible
through webquests, powerpoints and other assignments. This is key that
students know how to use these things to their advantage. For me as far
as teaching goes, my goal is to make sure students feel as comfortable
as possible and it is an environment where they can push themselves but
feel like they are respected and can share their thoughts. This has
been a great experience for me, and I cannot wait to share this with my
own students.
