~Project 10~

Project
ten was our final project where we evaluated the course. I felt this
course was really beneficial for me. I learned how to use several
different programs that I will be able to take with me and use in an
elementary classroom. I feel that students need to become more
experienced and comfortable with the use of computers, besides just the
Internet, so students can be able to use all the programs that there
are to offer.
I feel that computers and the use of technology has
advanced and emerged in the elementary classrooms and has become a
primary resource available to students. The use of these
technologies provides additional learning methods and approaches for
the teachers to use with the students.
One project that I felt was very useful and will
be beneficial to students was the Web Quest we created about a certain
biome. I think students can do the same sort of project in
relation to
a research topic. Teachers could also create a Web Quest about
their
teaching philosophy and give a brief over view about what the students
and parents could look forward to in the upcoming year. This will
allow the parents to contact the teacher via e-mail and forms a
relationship between the teacher and each family.
Another project that I really enjoyed a lot was the
digital story telling using Photo Story. I liked this because I
could show my individuality and be creative. I enjoyed making
something that I expanded on to make into a really nice gift for my
best friends. I'm glad that we had our space to do what we wanted
with this project to an extent. I feel that student can use this
program to make their own Photo Story of their family, friends, a
special vacation they really enjoyed, or whatever else they might be
interested in.
I also found it very helpful to build our own
personal E-Portfolios. We will be able to use these in the future
for job interviews and as a reference for all of our past experience.
We will be able to adapt what we already have done to create an
E-Portfolio that is more related to our past volunteer hours that we
need in order to student teach and graduate. This could help
during job interviews since it will be more convenient to upload a
website than carry a binder around and this allows the district that is
hiring to access your portfolio at any point.
It was really interesting to me to see how we could
use computers to integrate the other subject areas by creating
documents or projects that need additional technology resources such as
power point, publisher, and photo story. Students could also
experience working in groups to explore these programs that might be
new to them. It might be better for them to initially work in
groups while they are learning the program. It also provides
someone to brainstorm with for certain projects that they might be
required to complete.
I enjoyed working in groups and independently during
this course and benefited from both. I'm looking forward to using
technology and computers in the future when I am a teacher and I will
take a lot of the programs that I learned how to use with me to use
with my students!
