NETS for Teachers: Teachers use technology to support learner-centered strategies that address the diverse needs of students.

Reflection: Using Microsoft Excel for recordkeeping and student projects is very valuable. Keeping track of grades in a spreadsheet is a great way to organize and calculate grades. I find it helpful because it does the math for you and you can see the estimated semester grade right away without calculations. Graphs and charts can then be made by the students’ grades and scores. Students can also use Microsoft Excel to calculate averages, sums, etc. and make charts with the data.

NETS for Teachers: Teachers use technology to support learner-centered strategies that address the diverse needs of students.

Reflection: Making pictographs for lessons is a great way to expand visuals for students who learn better with pictures or visually. This activity can be done by students and teachers for various projects. Students can use Excel for making graphs or pictographs as in the picture above and it is a great activity to expand Mathematics skills in graphing. I really enjoyed the pictograph and would definitely use them in lower elementary grades.

NETS for Teachers: Teachers use technology to support learner-centered strategies that address the diverse needs of students.

Reflection: Microsoft’s mail merge is very convenient for teachers mailing multiple grades and progress reports to parents and students. By making use of the mail merge feature one can quickly transfer individual information into Microsoft Word for separate letters for parents. This feature would save teachers a lot of time in preparing grades and personalizing progress reports.
