Project 5: WebQuest Project (Group Project)
This project was a group
effort that went along with Dr. Lin Lin's social studies class. With
social studies concepts in mind, Katie, Melissa, Alicia and I all chose
to create a webquest on Harriet Tubman and her contributions to the
underground railroad. In order to make the webquest, we had to be
familiar with making tables with different features, considering the
webquest is outlined using tables. The webquest helps students better
investigate the life of Harriet Tubman as they are guided towards
internet sources to aid them in their task. We were able to work
together by starting the outline of the webquest on Katie's computer
that we downloaded to the rest of the group members' computers using
our scan disks. We were glad we did this early on because it gets
complicated when we have to correct all of the links so that they are
working according to our pages. I am so excited about this project
because I have heard of teachers using this resource in their
classrooms. I have also seen a lot of examples on the internet. I plan
to use this in my classroom so that I will know what the students are
looking up, which better simplify searches and direct my questioning in
a specific direction. I would also not only use this in social studies,
but also in subjects such as science, math and reading.
