Sparta is the city in Greece where I have my heritage as this is where my parents were born. Sparta is situated on the Peloponnese in the Greek State of Laconia and is historically known as a military power. The picture above depicts the statue of Leonidas, the Spartan military king in the 5th century, B.C.
	Classical theater is still alive and well in Greece. Here is a performance of Sophocles' Oedipus the King at Sparta's Sainopoulio Theater. It is an open-air theater and is constructed so that no microphones are needed.
	My mother's family is from the village of Goranoi. The picture on the left is one I took of my grandmother's bread oven and is the only part of the house that is still standing. On the right is a picture of my favorite table at the taverna called "Rahidi" which means "peak", and is located in my father's village, Vasiliki.
