Standards for Teachers
-Technology Operations and Concepts

    It is important for teachers to be able to use and understand the basics of technology. When teachers are trying to teach something they need to be able to understand it themselves. If they don;t understand how something works then how do they expect to teach the students the information using the technology at hand. It is also important for teachers to be open to learning more about technology. We are in a world where technology is changing everyday and the teachers need to be able to adapt to that. The teachers need to be able to keep up with the current technological advances in order to display the most up to date information.  

    A good example of this would be the use of all of the Microsoft programs. Teachers are always asking their students to write papers and give presentations. The teacher should have a basic understanding of how to use the program before assigning it. These programs also change every few years so teachers need to stay up to date on the latest versions. Also if a teacher plans to use power point then they should have a good knowledge base of how to use it so that the students will be able to benefit from it.


Standards for Students
-Technology Research Tools

    It is important for students to be able to locate, use and evaluate research through the use of technology. Students need to be able to use the materials necessary in order succeed in school and further their careers through the use of technology. They need to be aware that the best way to complete the assignment is through the use of technology. Also, when using technology, the best way to reach conclusions is through the use of the correct form of technology.

    A good example of this would be students deciding on the correct form of technology to complete the assignment at hand. If students need to make a presentation using pictures and words, the appropriate program would be Power Point. Another example of this would be if a student needs to complete some form of research for a paper. In order to gather the appropraite materials, they must be able to not only be able to look for the information on their topic but also be able to use it in their papers.
