For this project, i was asked to write a reflection about what I learned throughout the semester. It answers many questions about what I did in this class and how I would use this as a future teacher.

In my honest opinion, I think I have grown throughout the semester. I knew how to use the programs, but through this class we used them in a different manner than I was accustomed to. I feel very comfortable using Word and Power Point and also learned some new skills through other programs. I have never used Publisher before so that gave me a new skill and the Puzzle Maker project was really good. If I ever need something to keep the students busy I can always go and make a word search for them.

I really think that it is important for teachers to build their own websites. It may be a long and frustrating process but at the same time it comes as a great resource for teachers. I know after this class if I wanted to build my own classroom website for students I would be able to. I feel that through this class I have the appropriate skills to succeed in making my own website outside of the classroom.

Some exciting experiences that I had throughout the course have been just the actual ability to see my website published. It is cool to be able to go online and see my work that I have worked so hard on published on the internet. I had a few frustrations. One being, I have never been a fan of NVU. It is a very frustrating program. Luckily, I have used the program before so I knew how to use it but I still had my fair share of problems this semester with the program. Also, the webquest project I had a few troubles with. It was hard to get everyone’s information from them and then upload it onto our webpage. I also felt like I didn’t do as much work as everyone else because I felt like I was assigned to easy of pages to complete.

I really feel that I can use this in a classroom scenario. I would be able to create a webpage designed around my classroom for not only the students but for the parents as well. They would be able to access our class calendar and see the different events going on at the school. Also, I would have some information about what homework is due for the class so in case the students forgot what was due they will be able to access the information from my website. I will also have the students try and use all of the programs that I used in this class. They should get a good base on how to use these programs early so that way they will be able to use them later on in their educational careers.

Overall, this was a very worthwhile class and was worth the time spent completing all of the projects. It may have seemed tedious at times but all of the skills we have acquired through this class are going to help us in our teaching careers down the road.
