Project Two
For the second project we worked in groups to design and publish an
Elementary School website. I worked with Mike Ryan, Amanda
DiNapolis, and Sarah Kimball. We decided to name our school Rose
Hill Elementary. We needed to use the skills we had learned
during the initial publication of our personal homepages to create this
website. We used the same programs for creating and publishing,
which include NvU and WS_FTP. We each designed our own
elementary school website, but tried to make them look exactly the
same. We browsed the internet to look at real elementary school
websites for inspiration. As a group we decided that Rose Hill
Elementary School website would include a homepage, lunch menu, school
calendar, faculty, and school map. Everyone worked together and
assisted others when needed. Our faculty page is one of my
favorites because it expresses our true creativity. We all found
goofy pictures of ourselves and placed them onto our webpage with a
faculty title. We used Microsoft Paint to crop some of the
photos. When I am a classroom teacher, I would love to use this
technology to create a website for my own class. This has
furthered my knowledge in creating links and multiple WebPages, which
could be used when I am teaching in a classroom. I believe the usage of
websites in the classroom is increasing, because it helps teachers
connect with students and parents.
