Project #5: WebQuest

Annotation

For this project we were asked to create a Webquest on a topic relating to Science.  Our group chose water conservation because it coincides with our water unit project for EDU374, our science class.  Water conservation is an extremely important topic for children and the Webquest allows students to acquire information in an easy way without searching the web.  The first part of this project I learned how to create a table on NvU.  I used vertical navigation to create all of my pages in the Webquest.  The Webquest includes a home page, problem’s page, cause’s pages, solution’s page, a further reading page, and game page.  Once I was finished creating the technical part of the webquest, I started to gather information about water conservation.  My group separated the webquest tasks and I was in charge of creating the game page.  I searched for an image to place at the top of my page.  I then searched for online games that went along with the topic.  There were numerous games on the website and I narrowed down the choices, by listing the most educational and interactive games.  Some of the games I included were memory games, quizzes, and mazes.  After each game that I included I wrote a brief summary of each game.  Once everyone was done with their pages we came together and published our webquest using WS_FTP.

This project is very helpful because it is a great tool for students to use the internet and gather information themselves.  Teachers are able to place important information they want in the webquest.  Teachers and students save time covering a particular topic because all of the information is located within the webquest.
