          Water is all around us. It is in the sky, on the ground and in our homes. Water is essential for the human body to function properly and we use it and need it every day of our lives. A problem that has developed over time is that everyone is using too much water daily and it is hurting other people in different areas that do not have clean, healthy drinking water. Water conservation is something that the world needs to focus on because water is a precious resource and without it we would not be able to survive.
    Listed below are many of the different ways we use water each day. It may be surprising to see the large amounts of water we use just by doing simple daily tasks. If everyone is unaware of how much water they use each day, it could cause problems in our future as out clean water supply begins to decrease.

Each day, you use about 1 gallon of water every time you brush your teeth.


                                                                                                      
Everytime you take a shower you use an average of 5 gallons of water per minute.



Whenever you flush a toilet, you are using an average of 3-5 gallons of water per flush.



When your family waters the lawn or garden it takes 240 gallons for each half hour of watering.



A nice relaxing bath takes an average of 35-40 gallons each time.



After each meal when you wash your dishes, it takes an average of 10-15 gallons of water each time.



Whenever you put in a load of laundry in the washing machine, you use 19-45 gallons of water each time you press start.
