For this project we created word puzzles
using an online puzzlemaker at schooldiscovery.com. I went to the
online list of vocabulary words and selected the topic Columbus Day
from the list of holidays. I then copied all of the words into the
box on the wordsearch page. I entered a topic and then clicked on
create puzzle. The website then created the puzzle for me.
Once the puzzle was created I copied and pasted it into microsoft
word. I edited the puzzle to make sure it fit onto one page.
Once I had it formatted the way I wanted it I zoomed out and
created an image of the puzzle using the print screen button. I then copied it into microsoft
paint to edit it more and to save it as an image file to be inserted
onto my website.
I think this is a very useful project. This will be very helpful to me in the future because the website gave many different puzzle models, like word search, criss-cross, letter tiles and more. Puzzles are a great tool to teach and reinforce any topic. Being able to make my own puzzles on whatever topic I choose will be very helpful.
