I am using section 5 of the standards as my category of
where a teacher should show proficiency. I feel that it is very important
to show students that you are capable and willing to use technology
as a resource. If you show them this you are setting a positive example
for your classroom, and maybe even for other teachers. Using
technology as a way of communication speeds up the communication process
and encourages other people to do the same. Also in section 5
of the standards it states to show that you are a lifelong learner.
I strongly agree with this.

If you are able to use technology this means that you will be able
to help the students with technology. If a student is struggling with
technology and they know that you are proficient with it, then they
are likely to ask you for help.

For the students I am also choosing section 5 of the standards
to talk about. I cannot stress enough how important it is for students
to be able to use the tools that are given to them. This implies to
technology. They can use this to research, create a nice clean,
professional looking document, and also use it as a source
of communication.

Students need to learn these new skills that are being offered.
Technology is not going away, and it is only going to be used
more often. If they can grasp the standards and learn the basics
they are going to be a lot better off and be much more efficient in school.
