What is a riddle?

A riddle is a word game where a question is given in a puzzling way so that the reader or listener must think hard and use the clues given to solve the puzzle and answer the question.

Try some simple animal riddles:


chicken cow pig dog horse

1.  I eat grass and hay
    My baby is called a calf
    People like to drink my milk  
    I say "moooooo"  
     What am I?                
Answer: cow

2. I lay eggs
   I have feathers
   My baby is called a chick           
   I say "cluck cluck cluck"
   What am I?
Answer: chicken
3. People can ride on my back
  I have a mane and tail
  My baby is called a foal    
  I say "neigh"
  What am I?
Answer: horse
