Lesson Plan
Enrique Wissar
Spanish I
This lesson was made using the Shrum & Glissan model.
Preparation
Students will go through the vocabulary of weather using pictures and listening to their definitions.
Students will be able to tell
the difference between "hacer" and "tener" expressions when
talking about weather conditions.
Students will then look at
their vocabulary list and go through the definitions and differences of
"hacer" and "tener" expressions.
After the students go through the pronunciation of words and their
English definition the teacher will point out the differences using "hace calor" and "tener calor"
Comprehension
Students will start by
skimming the passages and looking for words they recognize that will
help them identify the season being described.
Students will also go through the holidays and celebrations of each season to help them come up with the answer.
Students will write down the words they recognize from the previous activity.
Interpretation.
Students discuss their findings with each other and try to estimate the season being described.
Students will read the first
passage and circle words that they don't know. They will then
discuss the possible definitions of the word with their partners.
Students will be encouraged to come up with a definition based on their
reading. After they have come up with their definition, they will finish reading
their passages and come up with their answers.
The teacher will then go through the vocabulary that was difficult and give the definitions to the students.
Students will repeat the above steps for the rest of the passages.
Application
Students will answer questions about the passages. The questions will be short and concise.
Students will be allowed to go back and forth to their passages as needed.
Students will use their
answers in the last assingment to describe their favorite weather season and their least
favorite. Students will be allowed to use their answers to write
their descriptions.
Students will have to use six weather expressions from the list. They will have to use at least two "tener" expressions.
