Project 2 |
For project 2 (Elementary School Website Design Contest), my group and I designed and published a website for our elementary school. We chose to do our project on a real school instead of an imaginary one. We picked F.E. Smith Elementary School, which is from the Cortland City School District. We used the program Nvu to create our homepage as well as to create the pages for our school lunch menu, faculty, and map and directions. We went to the F.E Smith Elementary School website (http://www.cortlandschools.org/buildings/s mith/index.html), saved their faculty page and map and directions page, and then we uploaded the images onto Nvu. However, we came across a problem when we tried to save the schools lunch menu. Their lunch menu was in .PDF format, so we were unable to save it. As a result, we ended up finding a February lunch menu using Google images. Once we completed all four of our pages on Nvu, we then published them to the internet using WS_FTP. Overall, this project was very helpful for me as a future teacher because now I will be able to create a classroom website. I will be able to make an informative website for my classroom, using Nvu and WS_FTP, which parents and children can easily access.
