Project 3 |
For
project 3, Puzzle Maker and Microsoft Paint Project, I created a word
search. Since puzzles are an effective and motivating tool in vocabulary
building and sign recognition, I learned how to create them so I will be able
to use them as a future teacher. For this project, I worked alone and
created a word search from the program Puzzle Maker from SchoolDiscovery.com.
I also used the programs Nvu, Microsoft Word, and WS_FTP to complete this
project. I used Puzzle Maker on the internet to create my puzzle and then
I copied and pasted the puzzle to Microsoft Word. I then saved the puzzle
as plantpuzzle.JPG. From the Microsoft Word page, I took a screenshot of
the puzzle image and then published my puzzle to Nvu. On Nvu, I used the
screenshot image of my puzzle as an image link. I linked my puzzle in
Microsoft Word with the image of the puzzle as the link on Nvu. When I
was finished, I published my page to the internet using the program
WS_FTP. As a future teacher, it is important for me to know how to use
the Puzzle Maker program because I will be able to create word searches and
other fun puzzles for children to use to practice their spelling words and to
help build their vocabulary. Over spring break, I actually used this
program to create word searches for children in fifth grade to practice their
weekly spelling words. The teachers were creating their own word searches
by hand, and I suggested using Puzzle Maker. It really saved them a lot
of time, and the students loved it.
