Imperative

Use imperative form when giving instructions or orders.The imperative is also very common in written instructions such as recipes.

Formula: Base Form of Verb + Objects

• Example: Add more flour if necessary.

Negative: Do + Not + Base Form of Verb + Objects

• Example: Do not add butter.

Be careful when you use the imperative, as it is often considered impolite in English.
