Project #4: Power point Project
Annotation
For this project, we had to upload a virtual field trip that we
create for our Social Studies class. For Social Studies we had to
chose any place in the world and create a virtual field trip using
Microsoft Power point. The idea was to give the students the
experience of visiting a place that they might not otherwise have been
able to visit due to lack of funding or for other reasons. I
decided to do my virtual field trip on Boldt Castle. Boldt Castle
is located in the heart of the Thousand Islands in Alexandria Bay,
N.Y. It holds a special place in my heart, for I would spend my
Fourth of Julys there every summer. The history and story behind
the castle is so real and magical, and to see it in person is even
more special. I had no problem finding websites about Boldt
castle, there is lots of information out there. However, there
are only a couple of websites that I found real useful for a field
trip. For technology, we then used Nvu to create a page to link
our virtual field trip to and to write an annotation. I think
that Power Point will be something I will use frequently in the
classroom if the technology is available. Power Point enables us
as teachers to differentiate our instruction and offer students a more
experiential way to learn. It is a good program to use for
virtual field trips, for students to make presentations for their
parent teacher conferences, and for any other presentations to the
class, parents, teachers, or principal.
