very young form of an insect that looks like a worm. For example, the
larva of a butterfly is called a caterpillar. |

Pupa |
An
insect that is in the stage of development between the larva and adult.
It is usually a protective cocoon or hardened case. In this stage, a
lot of
changes occur. |

Complete Metamorphosis |
Type
of metamorphosis where insects go through four (4) life stages: egg,
larva, pupa, and adult. Larvae are very different in the form from the
adult. |

Nymph |
A
young insect that looks like an adult insect except that they do not
have wings, or only small ones. |

Gradual Metamorphosis |
Type
of metamorphosis in which an insect hatches from an egg and then goes
through several nymphal stages. Each nymphal stage looks like a small
version of the adult but getting bigger with age. |
