Reflection # 4
In Multimedia in the Classroom: Engaging Students,
multimedia, using multimedia in the classroom, and the four different
steps for implementing multimedia activities into the classroom.
Multimedia is defined "as the integration of text, graphics, animation,
sound, and/or video." Multimedia can greatly enhance a classroom
and spark the interest of many students in a classroom.
Using mulitmedia in the classroom allows for group
work to take place and for students to generate creative and
intellectual activities. Multimedia gives students the chance to
work collaboratively on assignments and "shine" in areas that are not
typical to most classrooms. The main difficulties with having a
variety of multimedia equiptment is money, student and teacher
knowledge, and of course time constraints.
The four main steps to incorporating multimedia into
the classroom are decide, design, develop, and evaluate. They are
all essential steps and each have specific roles in the process.
Decide is what outcomes need to be met, what standards to have,
and what type of multimedia to use. Design is to have the
hardware and software to fit your assignment and budget, the length,
have a lesson plan to follow and what groups are assigned.
Deliver is the skills needed for the assignment, and the
guidelines and rules that will be attached. Evaluate actually
occurs through out the entire assignment process. The end is
where the evaluation actually shows.
