Now, let's take a look at what happens when the sections are put together:


The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;
And Mamma in her kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter's nap.



We now have a section with 4 lines and 2 different rhymes: "beds" rhymes with "heads," and "cap" rhymes with "nap."
When poems have rhymes like this, we call this an "AABB" rhyme scheme.

Let's look at another section to see how it works:

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, (A)
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter; (A)
Away to the window I flew like a flash, (B)
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash. (B)
