La Comida y Las Tapas de España
Paella is one of the most famous Spanish dishes, as Paella can be thought of Spain's national dish. Its home is in Valencia but variations of Paella exist in the different Spanish provinces. There are literally hundreds of Paella recipes and every cook has their own favorite recipe. Paella can be prepared in many ways, based on meat or seafood. A colorful mixture of saffron-flavored rice, vegetables, and various meats and seafood, Paella's name comes from the paellera, the flat, round pan in which it is cooked. You can not leave Spain without trying a Paella!
The Spanish tapa tradition is
as important for conversation and company as it is for enjoying
delicious Spanish food. One of the best ways to sample Spanish food is
to try Las Tapas, or snacks, which are served at any time of the day at local bars or cafes. Tapas come in many different forms and can vary from town to town, as each will have its specialty. The tapa is an integral part of the Spanish culture. Most Spaniards will take tapas with a drink. The word tapa,
meaning cover or lid, is thought of to have originally reffered to the
complimentary plate of appetizers that many bars would put on top of
one's wine glass.
