This is a lesson about the present subjunctive. Students are presented the subjunctive through the song A Dios le pido by Juanes. Before viewing the video students are strongly encouraged to look at the background information first. Once students have listened to the song once they will complete a cloze activity that will draw their attention to the instances of the subjunctive in the song. The next thing the students will do is read through the basics about how to use the subjunctive. Finally, the students will apply what they have learned about the subjunctive in the extension activity.
Objectives: 1. SWBAT list what phrases and situations indicate that the subjunctive should be used. 2. SWBAT use the subjunctive to make suggestions and to state hopes and desires.
