Twenty First Century Literacies
Twenty first century literacies are about keeping up with our students. It’s about not allowing technology to be associated with intimidation, and instead to become synonymous with learning, experience, and progress. Twenty first century literacies are about our duty as teachers, and our pledge to our students. It’s about taking the English Language Arts to the next level; about connecting what may have been written hundreds of years ago with a medium that may very well have been developed a hundred days ago. It’s delving into and pushing the boundaries of what defines the standard ELA. Twenty first century literacies exist to change, to engage, and to inspire our students to embrace the four components of ELA, reading, writing, speaking, and listening, and employ them to their greatest potential: to enhance their own personal passions in life.
