Task
Your task at
hand is to read the papers that Rafi the Embalmer has left for you and learn
about mummification. Throughout your time reading and comprehending the papers
he has left for you, there will be several tasks to see if you have understood
what his papers are stating.
Your first task will ask that you create a
detailed list of why Ancient Egyptians mummified their dead. Your list should
include:
- Appropriate
title.
- At least five
reasons behind the purpose of mummification.
- Detailed
description supporting each reason.
- Grammar,
punctuation, and spelling count!
As you further your investigation about
the act of mummification you will stumble across information pertaining to the
process which is used to mummify the dead. After doing so, you will complete an
experiment in mummifying your own fruit. You will then complete a sequencing
activity on the steps used in mummification. You must:
- Cut out the events provided on the list.
- Put them in the correct order from first to last in which the process
of mummification occurs.
- Glue the events in the correct order on a sheet of construction
paper.
- Proper title for your mummification process is necessary.
- Number the events in which they occur after you have glued
them.
Last, but not least, you will be able to
compare the process of mummification in Ancient Egypt with that of the process
in which is used today in the United States. Complete a Venn Diagram, which
includes:
- Four points that only apply to
the process used in the United States.
- Four points that only apply to
the process used in Ancient Egypt.
- Four points that apply to the
processes in both the United States and Ancient Egypt that are the same.
- Label each circle of the
Venn Diagram to inform viewers what each circle represents.
Through the duration of
your learning journey do not hesitate to use the resources provided for you to
successfully complete each task. Your mission is to learn as much as you can
about mummies and possibly become a master embalmer.
