About Me

My name is Rachael Caskey; I was born in Ithaca, NY, and currently reside in Newfield, NY.  I have been married for eight years and have three children.  Once they were old enough, I went back to school to pursue my dream of becoming a teacher.

I want to become a teacher because I enjoy working with children and facilitating their growth and development.  I owned and operated a family and then a group family daycare for two years working with a variety of ages from six weeks to nine years.  I also worked with a variety of children who were delayed in some area of development.  Those areas of delay included cognitive, physical, and speech delays. 

In addition to my practical experience with children, I have completed many workshops through the Day Care and Child Development Council of Tompkins County regarding subjects such as Child Development, Child Health and Safety, and Nutrition.  I currently am taking college courses at Cortland State and have previously completed four semesters of study at TC3 in relation to my degree. 

I am currently pursuing my Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood/Childhood Education and plan to pursue my Masters Degree in Special Education.  I am pursuing these three areas of interest in order to give myself increased opportunities when searching for a teaching job.
