Project #4: Microsoft Word Project (Optional)
Project #4 was an independent project
which asked us to create two different products. At first, I felt
a bit overwhelmed at the small amount of time we were given to complete
these products, but they actually turned out to be fairly simple.
I was amazed at how many tools exist in Microsoft Word - I have
been using it for years and never even knew many of them were there!
1. Wordart Acrostic : NAME GAME
Using
Microsoft Word, I was able to create a "Name Game" beginning with my
first name and using words that I feel describe aspects of my
personality. It was a lot of fun to do a project from a personal
standpoint. I used shading as well as vertical AND horizontal
wording. I found it very useful that you could change the size
and font of the text after you had already written it - this definitely
saved a lot of time. It was fun to experiment and become used to
tools I had never used before. Projects like these would be fun
for little kids, who could probably spend hours doing something like
this.
2. Educational handout with border, shading or fill effect: FUN WITH MONEY
I used Microsoft Word to complete this project also. I decided to
incorporate the concept of money into this project because it is an
every-day skill and it is imperative that children learn the basics of
money and how it works in order to function in the "real world".
Using the shading and border tools, I was able to make this
simple worksheet look more interesting and appealing to younger
children's eyes. If the children are more interested in what is
in front of them, they will be more interested in completing the work
required to do it.
