Third Graders Reading During the Read a Book Week
Jackie is in third grade. She is reading a book during
the Read a Book Week. Read a Book Week is a national event where
the students read a book on a certain subject approved by the teacher.
The third graders participated in the event. Althogether
they read over 50 books during the week. Each book was on a topic
that the child was interested in. Jackie is reading a book about
monkeys. She says that when she grows up she would like to become
a veterenerian because she loves animals.

| Gifted Child Moved Up to Second Grade from Kindergarten Mary
is a sweet little girl who has accomplished everything that is required
of a student up through the first grade. When she first entered
school her teacher immediately noticed that Mary was special. She
was bored in classes and corrected the teacher all the time. One
time we found her listening in on the first grade as they were doing
math. When Mary came back to her classroom she was able to
reproduce the math lesson correctly. The school got very
interested in this one young very fast learner. After only a
month of being in kindergarted she was moved up to the second grade.
Her second grade teacher has a handful of work she needs to do in
order to keep up with Mary. Everyone is asking what's in store
for Mary later on in her school career.

Physical Education Just Got More Fun Instead of just playing games during one P.E. period and coming to the next one having to choose new teams, the children have grouped themselves into teams and play each other each P.E. period. This has encouraged the students to practice, play and even compete with each other during recess and after school. Overall, the experiment was a success. The students enjoy playing games while getting enough excercise. This whole experiment came out to be a positive learning experience for the whole school and the teachers involved. |
