Reflection:
My science autobiography was the first assignment for our Teaching Elementary School Science class. The purpose of the assignment was to talk about our previous experiences with science. This allowed me to explain my views on science, as a subject, in schools.
This shows that I have met this objective because I was able to express my personal beliefs about science.
The assignment was a great way to start off the year because it gave me a chance to reflect on my experiences with science, throughout my life. It allowed me to talk about my bias's about science and also the experiences I enjoyed about science throughout my life. This was great because I have never had the chance to really think about how much I enjoy science or not. I have always just taken the classes, done well, and then they were over. I never had the opportunity to really think about all the content I had learned and how much I enjoyed it or not.
Overall, this assignment helped prepare me to teach elementary school science. It gave me the opportunity to find the methods of teaching science I really enjoyed, and help me realize ways I want to teach science. It also gave me the opportunity to explain my attitudes about science so that my bias's do not rub off on my students. Therefore, I feel that I have successful met the first objective for this course.
