Welcome to the reflection for
the second objective
of EDU 374
By creating
and implementing my lime hollow lesson plan I feel that I have met the
second objective. The second objective states that I have the ability
to plan a lesson which integrates science and the environment so that
students' have to ability to have a solid understanding of a science
topic.
This lesson
plan was created for first grade students to teach them about their
sense of touch. This lesson corresponded with three other lessons, each
explaining a different sense. The students were able to learn about
their sense of touch through a series of activities at a nature center.
This allowed the students to explore a science topic within the
surrounding environment.
Connecting
science and the environment helps to create a connection to daily
life. For this particular lesson the students were told to pay
attention to their sense of touch for the rest of the day, at the
nature center, and when they go home. This allowed for students to
realize they can use what they had learned, that day, at home and for
the rest of their lives. This provided a much neeeded connection for
the students.
I believe
that I have fully met this objective. I understand the importance of
integrating science and the environment to help in the students
understanding of science as a concept.
