The Five Senses : The Sense of Touch!
3 first grade classes
First, we read "I Can Tell By Touching" by Carolyn Otto
Then, the students talked about different things they had touched that day...
"I touched my dog, I touched my spoon, I touched my clothes....
Then the students were split up into two groups to feel objects of nature that were hidden in 6 boxes.
The students were told to describe what they were feeling, but not to say the object they thought it was.
Then the whole class came back together and discussed what they thought were in the boxes.
