You should now be able to identify Harriet Tubman as an influential
leader in the freeing of slaves. You should understand that her life
was not as easy as some of us might have it. The underground railraod
served for a vast number of fugitive slaves to escape to the North
where it was free. Slaves had to escape their plantations with the
help of certain "conductors", such as Harriet Tubman. Without her
guidance and impact, no one can tell how long it would have taken for
the slaves to take such a change in their own stand for freedom. We
study people in history such as Harriet Tubman because it is very
important that we learn from these leaders. Leaders such as Harriet
Tubman is how our country has developed to how it is today. History
is very complex, and we must learn from our mistakes so that history
doesn't repeat itself. Harriet Tubman's efforts paved the way for the
civil rights movement, which was another step to freedom. This system
goes to show that everyone can be a stepping stone to a better future.
The question is, what will you do to impact the future? We must pay
attention to the world around us!
