Step 1: Students will do group work to establish main points in Harriets's life. Does not name the main points of Harriets life. Names a few points in Harriets life. A few grammatical errors. Little difficulty working in the group environment. Names most of the important points in her life and include some important dates. Names all of the important parts of Harriets life and includes all the dates as well as some other people who were involved in her drive towards freedom.
Step 2: Students will research the given websites about the underground railroad and make a timeline. Timeline is not  in order and does not demonstrate full knowledge of the subject area. Timeline is in order but has limited facts about the subject area. Timeline is in complete order with the correct dates and also grammitcally correct. Students also demonstrate their knowledge of what the Underground railroad really was. Timeline well exceeds the minimum of facts and the student demonstrates their complete knowledge of the subject area. Dates and people are all correct and students understand the full concept of the Underground Railroad .
Step 3: Students will make a chart explaining what Tubman did and how it affected society. Chart is quite incomplete. Actions do not match the outcome Chart has the minimum actions with the minimum outcomes. Chart has sufficient detail of some of the actions Tubman took as well as matching outcomes. Chart has a lot of detail as well as many actions and outcomes. Shows sufficient evidence that the group has completed the task.
Step 4:Students will choose a design of their own to do a character profile of Harriet Tubman Character profile has a very limited amount of information. Spelling and grammer mistakes as well. Student does not show evidence of knowing the material. Character profile has some valid information regarding Harriet Tubman. Few spelling and grammatical errors and student demonstrates some knowledge of the material. Character profile has valid information with some detail included. No spelling or grammatical errors and the student shows a definite understanding of the material. Character profile exceeds the minimun  requirement. Great detail and valid information is give. NO spelling or grammatical errors and great demonstration of knowing the material.
