Project 5: Web Quest
For this integrated science and
technology project we were split into groups of five. I worked with Jessica, Heather, Missy and Rita.
Each group had to choose a biome that interested the whole
group and do research on that biome. My group chose Climate Change
and deforestation. Each person had a separate page to work on.
Mine was the problems page.
In order
for all of our pages to look the same, we developed a basic outline of what the
page would look like with different links to each section. We used Nvu to
create a table and added to it a vertical navigation scheme. We then added the
page files from one another's flash drives onto our own flash drive and published
our Web Quest using WS_FTP.
I could use this idea of a Web Quest in my future classroom for a Science or
even a Social Studies project. This project has helped me build on my knowledge
of technology and how to incorporate it into the classroom. I think a project
like this would be beneficial for students to have access to so they can explore
or even create a Web Quest of their own. By doing this project not only will
the students become more familiarized with the Nvu software, but they will be able
to become more knowledgeable with
a new place/region/or country in the world that they may not have known about
prior to this lesson. They will be able virtually visit an area that they may
not be able to travel to in their lifetime. I really enjoyed working on this
project.
