Synopsis
Blackfish tells the story if Tilikum, a rescued killer whale that had a few incidents where deaths occurred as he was in captivity. Director-producer Gabriela Cowperthwaite finds outdated footage and false interviews to manipulate the viewer’s emotions all while depicting how “cruel and bad” SeaWorld is to it’s animals, disregarding all the good they do for marine life.
This emotionally wrenching, clever structured story challenges us to believe blindly in whatever we are told, without any true facts about certain orcas, incidents, or SeaWorld. At the same time it exploits the death of Dawn Brancheau, who was an amazing senior trainer that worked with orcas for years at SeaWorld with much love and compassion.
