While Ponyboy and Johnny are waiting in the old church for Dally to return, they read the novel  that takes place during the Civil War, Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell.  This is another allusion. 

Task 4: Search Google Images for pictures of Civil War soldiers.  Summarizes what they look like.  What are they doing?  How are the dressed?  What do you think they are thinking about?

Based on your image research on Civil War soldiers and what Johnny has to say about them, why do you think Dally reminds Johnny of the men from Gone with the Wind?
