What is a Fairy Tale?

We will be reading the fairy tale Cinderella. A fairy tale is a type of story with not real characters (fairies, dwarfs, goblins, elves, etc.) Typically, fairy tales have 3 things that not every other story has:

• Magic: In the story "Cinderella" that you will be reading, the Fairy Godmother has magic that helps Cinderella.
• A "bad-guy" or someone who isn't nice: In Cinderella the people who are not nice are: the step mother, and the two step sisters.
• Romance: Cinderella falls in love with the Prince, but there is something he doesn't know about her.
