This is the village that we are staying in. This village is located right alongside the Indian Ocean. As you can see, children and adults can be found among the village all the time.
This is our house. If you look closely you can see Dani standing in the doorway. Temperatures do not vary much in Madagascar, and this house will keep us feeling comfortable year round. The wood is a good protector against the rain. This is important because it tends to rain a lot in Madagascar. In fact, Madagascar receives about 120 inches of rain each year.
Looking back to Fort Dauphin, on the southern end of Madagascar. The Indian Ocean is quite beautiful. Look, there is Heather swimming in the ocean!
The weather patterns here are a little different from what we are used to. In Madagascar, the hot and rainy season is from November to April. Being we are here in December, the hot temperatures that we are facing are definitely different from the ones back in Cortland, NY. The cooler season in Madagascar occurs from May to October. When we say cooler weather, we are not talking about weather nearly as cold as how it often gets in Cortland, NY. Madagascar's temperatures do not vary too much throughout the course of the year. We are so lucky to be experiencing such great weather that is allowing us to swim and participate in all these fun and interesting outdoor activities. |
