Verona Map |
Nowadays
Verona is
a dynamic
and lively
city. Poets, writers, and musicians like
Dante
and Shakespeare,
Byron
and Mozart
have been inspired by this
magical city throughout the centuries, but you can also see
the signs of rapid
economic growth thanks to its georgraphical
position, which is between the Brennero and Padania plain, and also to
structural development that has contributed to its role as the
crossroads of European trading. |

Juliet's Balcony |
A Romantic City Travel back in time to the origins of the historic center and visit Piazza Bra where you can find the imposing Arena, one of the most famous open-air opera arenas in the world and symbol of Verona. The building dominates the piazza with its perfect harmonious form, alternating arches and fascinating interplay of masonry which is red and white. The Via Mazzini starts from here, lined with chic shops. Shop the fashionable showrooms, and then stroll to the charming Piazza delle Erbe, originally an ancient Roman forum, which will surprise you with its variety of medieval, Renaissance and 17th- and 18th- century architecture. Further on, you can visit Juliet's famous house, in Via Cappello, which overlooks lovers from all over the world as they go by. Go through the door, and you will see a small courtyard with the balcony famous for the meeting between Shakespeare's heroine and her beloved Romeo. The Valley of Mezzane One of the most beautiful valleys in Veronese territory is to be found in the wine and olive district in the hills. After you taste exquisite dishes and refined wines, you can visit the still working ancient 17th-century oil press in Mezzane di Sotto. |
