Bibliografía de Otto René Castillo

Castillo was born in 1936 in the city of Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. When he was 18, he was exiled to El Salvador for his progressive political position and views. He returned later to Guatemala and entered school. he received the opportunity to go to Germany to study, and he went and gained a masters degree from Leipzig. He returned to Guatemala in 1964 later to be exiled once again. During his several periods of exile, he met Roque Dalton, and began a literary circle among Dalton and other famous Latin American writers. Castillo returns to his native land to continue work as a guerrilla, and in 1967 he and his love, Nora Paíz Cárcamo, were captured at Sierra de las Minas. They were both tortured for approximately five days, and then burned alive.
