Welcome
to our home! We wanted the real experience of what it was like to live
in Tasmania, so we moved there together! We live in the country in a 4
bedroom house. This gives us a first hand experience of what it
is like to be a resident of Tasmania and allows us to study the biome
in full. This house is located in Southern
Tasmania near the waterfront in a town called Mandala. It is only
a 20 minute walk from our house to the costal path where we can observe
our biome and explore the different parts of the area. The water
provides us with information on temperatures, weather, and aquatic
life, while the countryside gives us information on different land
animals and plants that we plan to study.
In autumn in Tasmania, we experienced beautiful leaf changes and temperatures around the low 60s. It was a beautiful season. We spent our time in picking apples in the orchards, picking grapes in the vineyards, and participating in picnics and different harvest events. As we embarked into the winter months, we saw colder temperatures and snow! It was great as we got to ski the area and tour through the quiet historic towns! The winter days are crisp and clear and the nights involve a warm fire. The spring season is cool and green as new apple blossoms grow along with daffodils and wildflowers. This is also when we hold big spring festivals and begin the trout fishing season. Lastly, our summers are warm and involve long days at the beach. The sea creates breezes through the coastal area and the sun warms the rest of the land. Mountain pools are a fun place to spend time along with the many carnivals that highlight Tasmania's exquisit food and culture. We look forward to spending our year enduring all these climates in our countryside house and hope to get an idea of the activities and culture that the residents of Tasmania participate in year round. We look forward to having an authentic experience in this new area. |
